It was fantastic to be on London's arts radio station Resonance 104.4FM in a show incorporating my novel of friendship, Poland, snow, trains and vodka, Laikonik Express. In collaboration with Johny Brown and The Band Of Holy Joy, we played some of the music I associate with the book, which included Pearls Before Swine's Guardian Angel, and some Polish music hall. Some incredible live music was supplied by Katy Carr, who played some songs from her intriguing album Paszport, which looks, sometimes heartbreakingly closely, at some aspects of the Polish experience during the Second World War.
I read some short extracts, and Johny and Pete from the Band of Holy Joy made a soundscape out of it all - it was a proper fun night out in a small room with like-minded people.
Tune in to Resonance 104.4 at 10.30 PM any Friday for Johny Brown’s and the band's much-loved Mmm... Such a Nice Radio Show.
